Theological Institute

The Theological Institute is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, Kansas. It is an adult learning experience aimed at deepening our roots in the Christian tradition and exploring its implications for living the Gospel in the contemporary world.

After the closing of Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, a way was sought to keep alive the long-standing tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph as learners and Christian educators.  Hence, the Theological Institute was established in 1995.  For fifteen years, the Institute has brought noted theologians and Scripture scholars to Concordia to enrich the lives of Religious and laity.

Evolutionary Christianity: Hope for a New Future

We are in the midst of epochal shift of consciousness brought about by technology and mass communication. This shift together with the new science story opens up new windows to the divine mystery. What is the meaning of Christ in evolution and what are the implications for Christian life? What difference does cosmology make to understanding God in view of evolution? In these talks we will discuss evolution as a process of ongoing incarnation, what it means to live in evolution and the power within us to participate in the new creation emerging in our midst.

Sister Ilia Delio is a Senior Fellow at Woodstock Theological Center, Georgetown University where she concentrates in the area of Science and Religion.
